After a 50-minute flight from Tahiti, Bora Bora appears, all green, proud and tall surrounded by a lagoon that resembles an artist’s palette of blues.
Discovered in 1722 by the Dutchman Jacob Roggeven, Bora Bora - or Pora Pora which means ‘first born’ - was so named after oral tradition as it was the first one to emerge in the morning mist from Hava’i, birthplace of all lands.
Encircled by a coral reef and ‘motu’ islets, Bora Bora is love at first sight! White sandy beaches fringed by coconut trees, a neon-lit turquoise lagoon and Mount Otemanu majestically rising to the sky: the scene is set for your dream vacation!
Air Tahiti Nui is the national carrier, Air France operates a few flights a week from Paris and Los Angeles, Hawaiian Airlines has one flight per week from Honolulu as does LAN from Chile.
